I don’t know if it’s just me, but sometimes I feel a bit skeptical when I see reviews for a particular product, and virtually every single review is an absolute rave. I haven’t seen one bad review. Not one. Is it sponsored? I don’t know. Is it pricey? Most likely.
So naturally, when I saw stellar reviews on YouTube or different blogs about the Too Faced Hangover Primer, I was doubtful. Not only was this due to the incredibly positive reception of the product, but I also have a love-hate relationship with face primers. Most of the ones I’ve tried just don’t seem to live up to their claims. They don’t hydrate my skin. The makeup doesn’t last, it slides off. You have no idea how frustrating it is to have flawless makeup on your face, then next thing you know – you have this red chin. Not cute…
So I tried it out for myself. And this is what I came away with:
I wasn’t really aware that when I got this, I actually got the mini version of the primer. But in terms of packaging, there’s no real difference, other than size. It comes in a tube with a pump attached to the end, covered by a lid. Although it’s the travel size, I still think you get a generous amount of product.
This isn’t one of those slip-and-slide primers that make your face feel soft and velvety – it’s designed to hydrate and keep your makeup on. So if you’ve guessed already – it’s a water-based product. It also contains probiotics, and coconut water – which gives the primer its coconut scent. Which takes me to the next point…
As mentioned, this primer contains coconut water, which gives it a sweet but subtle tropical scent. It’s strong enough that you can smell it, but it’s not an overwhelming smell that will make you gag.
If you’re an oily skin type, this might not be up your alley. But I can definitely see the dry-skin people soaking this up. It’s really lightweight and moisturising, and a tiny bit goes a long way.
Although my T-zone gets really oily sometimes, this does a fantastic job at keeping my makeup on all day. There is still a tiny bit of shine that comes through, but it’s relatively small. Easily fixed with a tissue, blotting paper, or a touch-up with your favourite powder.
I guess I had to see for myself why so many love this primer. It keeps my skin so hydrated and soft, and best of all – my makeup doesn’t budge. It looks dewy without making my face look like a grease ball. This is definitely my new favourite primer. I’ve converted. 🙂
So yes. The Too Faced Hangover Primer really is as good as everyone says it is!
Have you tried this primer? Let me know if you love it, or even if you’re not a fan.
